Rumor: Nokia Android prototype in production

A few days ago, New York Times reported that Nokia have been testing Android on Lumia devices before the deal with Microsoft was announced. Nokia had the option to get out of the Microsoft partnership in late 2014. Testing out Android devices was preparing the company for such a future. According to NYT’s sources, getting Nokia devices to boot Android was an easy task to accomplish from an engineering perspective.

The recent reports are from Ctechnology, a reputable Chinese leaks website. According to the latest leak, about 10,000 Nokia Android devices are already manufactured and delivered by Foxconn. According to the report, the project will continue till November. Then, Nokia shareholders are bound to approve or denounce Microsoft’s acquisition offer.

The prototype is internally called “Mountain View” and reportedly packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 8225Q chip with the sole intention of the Android smartphone to be affordable. No further information has been revealed on the hardware yet. But i hope this project goes on. I still remember all my previous Symbian devices and they were great for the time.

At the moment, considering the Microsoft deal, we can just hope to atleast see the “Mountain View” device, if not launched.
